TILING

Tiling can be considered a whole universe linked to home renovations. And again, for this section too customers have a large area of decisions to consider. That’s why good expertise and advice in kitchen tiles renovation will be of real help, will save you time and make the process stress-free.

Important aspects to keep in mind

First, we have prepared for some important aspects to keep in mind when it comes to tiles:
  • Ceramic, porcelain, and terracotta tiles are all fired clay, usually with a glaze, which ensures that the tiles look the same in 10 years and won’t stain.
  • Modern tiles can even be glazed to appear like timber, stone, or concrete.
  • Tiles, however, are easier to damage and more difficult to fix than other options and can crack and chip more easily than other flooring options.
  • Tile grout is also susceptible to staining so needs to be resealed every year.
  • Ceramic and porcelain are the most common choices for kitchen splashback tiles. Porcelain tiles are virtually non-porous and, being much tougher than ceramic tiles, are more expensive.
  • Natural stone tiles include slate, limestone, travertine, marble, and granite. These tiles aren’t glazed and are the same colour throughout, so chips and scratches can happen but are less noticeable than ceramic tiles. Granite, travertine, and slate are denser and less porous than limestone and marble and are stronger than ceramic varieties. Granite and slate, however, can still stain so refinish them every one to two years but, if scratched badly, need to be replaced.
  • A tiled kitchen splashback can be a key focal point in any kitchen design and the arrangement can be just as important as the tiles themselves.
  • Larger tiles work well in a large area – small tiles can make a space look too busy. Large-format 600mm square wall tiles require less grout than smaller mosaics, therefore, the grout on a tiled splashback with large tiles is less likely to stain. Large-format tiles are also recommended for quick and easy installation in a kitchen or bathroom.
How you choose your kitchen splashback tiles depends on the overall style of your kitchen. Splashback tiles can pull a kitchen design and colour scheme together. A traditional kitchen could showcase detailed mosaics, while a Hamptons-style kitchen could feature a white subway-tiled kitchen splashback.
Bathroom floor tiles help tie a bathroom renovation together while feature tiles, from a feature strip to a whole feature wall, can bring dazzle to space.
Smaller floor tiles with a pattern can make the bathroom look roomy, while larger tiles in lighter shades for the walls make the room appear larger.
