Having downsized to a ground floor terrace apartment, this twice returning client once more sought the services of their original designer Geoff. The brief: to renovate the rather clinical look of their new home with a view to vastly improving aesthetics and functionality.
The bathroom/laundry and the kitchen were to be the main focus.
Being a terrace unit with common walls on both sides, most rooms lacked windows. So what better way to make a windowless room look like it is anything but enclosed, than by using mural-style tiles depicting lush greenery to create the illusion of an outdoor scene.
The use of warm timbers not only completes the picture, but also adds warmth and interest to what was once a cold, outdated and uninviting space.
Clever re-design and care with selection of PC items such as taps, shower screen and benchtops, result in a coordinated and much improved space that amply meets the original brief. Purpose driven storage such as built-in laundry basket and broom cabinet, makes the space much more efficient too.
This colour scheme was also used in the kitchen, resulting in a much more convivial open kitchen/living space that then leads on to the private terrace.
The internal windows between the kitchen and the single bedroom not only allow light to enter the bedroom, they also create a wonderful deception in both rooms.
What was once a rather sterile and uninspiring space is now full of colour, texture, interest and functionality that will no doubt make for a very pleasant home for our client.
