Human-centred design

At Fisher & Paykel, human-centred design is at the heart of who we are and what we create. We have redefined appliances by understanding the life lived around them, and by working closely with top designers and architects from the around the world

Designed in New Zealand

For eight decades Fisher & Paykel have been proudly designed in New Zealand. From humble beginnings we have grown into a truly global design-led company. We draw on our legacy of creativity, resourcefulness and innovation and a culture of curiosity to challenge conventional appliance design and re-imagine what home appliances should be. Our design heritage is founded on a pioneering spirit and a culture of curiosity that is uniquely New Zealand, and uniquely Fisher & Paykel.

Social Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It is where we prepare and cook food for our families, help kids with their homework and entertain friends. Our kitchens now reflect how we live as much as how we cook. For Fisher and Paykel, the Social Kitchen is where our values come to life It underpins our thinking in flexible, modular appliances; that can be distributed throughout the kitchen to create work zones and adapt to your different patterns of use.

Human-Centred Design

Human-centred design is at the heart of who we are and what we create. Appliances that have been redefined by understanding the life lived around them. The social interactions that take place as we cook, wash, eat and entertain all shape our thinking. The mid-week convenience needed to get a nutritious dinner on, wash the dishes, and clean all while juggling the fast-paced after school schedule. Its all about efficiency. Contrast this to the weekend gourmet, where you slow things down and enjoy a more creative, perhaps shared experience– the cooking of masterful dishes, cool storage that can be set to the perfect temperature to chill wine, and a kitchen layout that lends itself to socialising

Designing for a Changing World

Todays kitchen needs to be able to respond to these dual needs through modular distribution and exceptional functionality. Our world is changing at a pace never seen before. The way we live, the way we interact, and the things that are important to us as people and as consumers are in constant flux. What we can be sure of is that change is now the only constant. Our challenge is to understand how the world around us will continue to shift and evolve, and design appliances that not only reflect but complement and enable that. We call it Designing for a Changing World.

Design Freedom

We know that kitchen design is very personal and that for luxury customers this often results in a bespoke design solution. Our ultimate goal is to give complete design freedom. Whether that be through a signature Fisher & Paykel style, or the ultimate in personalisation through our Integrated products. Combine that with modular distributed appliances that allow you to design the kitchen first without concern for how an appliance choice could fight with the design of the space. Design Freedom is about putting the choice into the hands of kitchen designers and architects – allowing them to realise the dreams of their clients and let the kitchen be the hero.

Beauty of Choice

The ultimate kitchen solution can’t just promise perfect results. It has to look beautiful too. It has to give options that allow the customer to configure and design their kitchen in their own unique style. This is the true beauty of choice. Functionality without compromise on design. And while our brand style is contemporary, the options we provide within that aesthetic are considerable. Style options to suit your home and lifestyle that deliver a premium experience is where we lead the industry.
