The owner’s of this magnificent period home graciously agreed to answer a questionnaire to summarise how and why they chose Nouvelle, and how they feel about their experience:
1.How did you discover Nouvelle and what made you choose them?
My journey with Nouvelle commenced with a Kitchen renovation in 2010.
After much research with various companies, I knew they were the firm to install my new kitchen after meeting with the Nouvelle Designer and listening to his ideas on maximising space and designing a sleek look.
Without hesitation, I worked with Nouvelle again in 2019 to renovate my bathrooms and undertake a living area refresh.
The result maximised the sale price of the home.
In 2021, my journey with Nouvelle started again on our third and largest renovation project.
2. What was the design process and how did you feel going through it?
The architectural designer, Homero Resende, built trust by meticulously ensuring he understood the vision and design brief for the transformation.
Further, structural engineers and builders were engaged at the right stage when a surprise was unearthed in the home. For example, we had two hidden fireplaces.
Without fuss, the Nouvelle team worked seamlessly to brainstorm a solution and quickly rectified the issue to ensure we stayed on track with project milestones.
Finally, a million elements were coordinated to create a simple, elegant look and feel.
Homero was generous with his time, including guiding selection of light fittings, tiles, brush box timber floors, natural stone benchtops, door and window hardware, as well as bathroom fixtures and tapware.
3. How long was the build process and how did the home’s inhabitants cope during this period?
Over the last four years, the architectural design collaboration and high quality of the 120 building tradesmen have created a masterpiece that honours the past whilst enabling modern living.
We lived onsite in one room with our home offices and attic storage for over 12 months.
The Nouvelle team was very accommodating in planning the project and ensured we had an outdoor kitchen, laundry, plumbing, and electricity for the necessities of life. The build process took 20 months. We admit that renovating 600 sqm of internal space is a very demanding exercise.
We had early morning starts and late finishes. We always prepared areas for the team to work on the next day. There were no unacceptable variances or major budget blowouts.
We are still smiling at the end.
4. What is your favourite thing about your new kitchen/bathroom/ laundry?
The design’s simplicity and flow accommodate the way we live. The Kitchen and Butler’s pantry inclusions make entertaining family and friends a breeze. The five bedrooms and two home offices work brilliantly. I love the laundry and bathrooms’ clean lines and spacious storage features.
5.How has it changed the way you operate in your home?
That is a great question. The home was renovated with executive entertainment and large family living in mind. We are the custodians for this period. We look forward to handing the house keys to the new family so they can enjoy the great work of the Nouvelle team.
Nouvelle would like to thank Lee and Richard for their time to complete this questionnaire and for their generous commentary, as well as for their continued trust and custom.
