Did you know that the law currently requires that fridges, freezers and dishwashers on sale in Australia display an approved energy label? This is a guide to help you compare the energy efficiency of one appliance against another, and make an informed decision on what appliance will be better for the environment, save energy – and therefore money.
The Energy Rating Label displays:
- a star rating which gives you an idea of how energy efficient the product is. This rating is determined from the energy consumption and size of the product.
- an estimate of the annual energy consumption of the product. This is usually in the form of kilowatt hours per year, and is derived from testing and knowledge of how the product functions.
The energy rating displays meet Australian Standards criteria, so it is safe to be guided by the labels when choosing the most energy efficient appliance for your kitchen.
