Where to Begin with Your Home Renovation

A home renovation is the most efficient way to make your house work better, whether that’s expanding living areas, opening up layouts, or upgrading dated rooms. At Nouvelle, we design and deliver renovations that balance style, structural integrity, and everyday function.

Whether you’re renovating a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, or transforming your whole layout, we offer a fully managed design–build service. Our licensed builders and in-house designers coordinate everything from approvals to finishes, so you can look forward to enjoying the final result.

1

Year-Round Entertaining Courtyard

Outdoor zones don’t need to be large to function beautifully. In this courtyard renovation, we used wide-set pavers surrounded by pebbles to expand the visual footprint. A pergola adds overhead cover, while soft perimeter planting creates a private, all-season space for meals and conversation.

2

Connecting Indoor & Outdoor Spaces

For this renovation, the goal was seamless indoor-outdoor flow. We used continuous flooring from the living room to the deck to remove visual breaks. Wide bi-fold doors open the wall completely, extending usable space for gatherings and improving ventilation and light year-round.

3

Defining Open-Plan Living Without Walls

In this renovation, the kitchen, living, and dining rooms were combined into one fluid layout. Floor-to-ceiling timber slat screens subtly divide the space while maintaining airflow and line of sight. This gives each zone purpose while retaining openness and cohesion.

Home Renovation Ideas FAQs

Start by observing how you live. What frustrates you about your current layout? What’s missing? Then explore inspiration sources like Houzz, Pinterest, design magazines, and renovation galleries like Nouvelle’s

Save anything that sparks interest, even if you don’t know why yet.

Yes. Bringing a visual reference helps your designer understand your style preferences. You can use digital mood boards (like Pinterest or Canva) or print out images and assemble a physical scrapbook. Include photos of layouts, colours, materials, and even lighting or joinery details.

Not every great idea works in every home. For example, an open fireplace or sunken lounge might not suit a compact terrace or apartment. At Nouvelle, we help you stress-test each idea against your home’s structure, orientation, and usage, so it’s not just beautiful but feasible.

Trends that prioritise aesthetics over long-term function. For example, open shelving everywhere might look great in photos but lead to daily clutter. We recommend avoiding ideas that reduce storage, block natural light, or limit future flexibility.

That’s completely normal. Many clients start with eclectic boards. Our designers help distil your vision by identifying common threads across your inspiration images, whether it’s a colour palette, texture, or layout, and then create a cohesive scheme grounded in how you live.
