ENSUITE BATHROOMS

Ensuite bathrooms are a must for today’s homes

Some ensuites are small and some are large but all must be designed with meticulous use of space to ensure they meet the demands placed on these rooms. Many homes now feature ensuite bathrooms to more than just the master bedroom so it’s important to consider who will be using the ensuite, what time of day will the bathroom be busiest, and what activities are likely to be undertaken.

This ensuite bathroom design proves a small space can be a stylish space, too. Cleverly, the designer has used a dark tile on the floor and a lighter tile for the walls which immediately opens up the room. A concealed cistern is a great space saver while two large drawers in the vanity provide excellent storage opportunities.

Ensuite bathrooms often need a clever approach to design as shown in this example. The toilet is housed adjacent to the main bathroom space to allow for privacy during busy times. Note the special attention to detail with the blue feature tile from the main bathroom also making an appearance in the toilet room. Excellent use of glass and mirrors give this ensuite a bright, open feel which makes it a delight to use.

This ensuite design features blocks of colour to make the small space really stand out. A neutral floor tone was chosen and highlighted with the use of small mosaic tiles. This is complemented by white, tiled walls and a white, block vanity. The vanity top and splashback, in stop-sign red, is an immediate attention-getter and, when partnered with a white above-counter basin and wall-mounted taps, is the centrepiece of the ensuite.

Ensuite bathroom designs such as the one above, need specialist attention to maximise use of space. Frameless glass shower solutions are a great choice for an ensuite as they reduce the amount of visual borders within the bathroom and can be designed to suit corner installations. Even small vanities, when designed well, can feature a range of storage solutions so you’ll never be without your often-used items.
